 We all are aware that cases of  depression have skyrocketed since last several decades.Emotional Intelligence can effectively inoculate against Depression.

Depression is a horrible, life-destroying state of health. Good emotional intelligence is the only way to over come depression especially at work place. Emotional difficulties have been  climbing exponentially. With the right emotional intelligence skills, We may control anxiety, panic, addiction, obsessive-compulsive disorders, anger, emotions.

Life can be made highly enjoyable with good emotional intelligence. We can  enjoy our work more, get more from our personal and professional relationships and progress  at work.

Emotional intelligence refers to developing successfully, and realizing our potential we not only need to build on our strengths but also work on our weaknesses, particularly thought patterns and emotions that can impair our ability to manage future challenges and hardships we will encounter. This is  ability to perceive emotion, integrate emotion to facilitate thought, understand emotions, and to regulate emotions to promote personal growth. If something happens in one’s life which is of great importance and unforgettable, that may culminate into emotional intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is the capacity for recognizing our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves, and for managing emotions well in ourselves and others!!!. Awareness, control and management of one’s own emotions and those of other people is called emotional intelligence while Rational intelligence, is our ability to build mental-models that explain the world around us.

Emotional Intelligence (EI), is often measured as an Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQ), describes an ability, capacity, or skill to perceive, assess, and manage the emotions of one’s self, of others, and of groups. It is a relatively new area of psychological research. The definition of EI is constantly changing.
 EI is described that Emotional Intelligence is actually the way in which you interact with people, and how you relate to them 

Emotional Intelligence is therefore the capacity for recognizing our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves, and for managing emotions well in ourselves and others. Emotional Intelligence is “the ability to monitor one’s own and others’ feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them and to use this information to guide one’s thinking and actions
The following are some of the key characteristics of emotional intelligence:

1. Emotional awareness: the ability to notice our feelings and as they occur.

2. Resience: the ability to sooth ourselves, to move out of , or bounce back from, states of distress by being able to “take time out”, to stop, “cool off” and recompose.

3. Self-control: the ability to control self gratification and persist with goals despite setbacks and upsets; for example, commitment to, and persistence in, pursuing longer-term goals.

4. Empathy: a fundamental social skill, being able to understand people by being better attuned to their feelings.
