Punjabi is one of the most civilised race in the world and comprised communities belonging to different religious belief systems. Prior to partition of India during 1947 they lived in harmony. They were definitely superior ethnic group as far asthe attributes like language culture moral and ethics are concerned.
During 1947 they became victim of political ambitions of Nehru Jinnah and Gandhi. On the name of freedom they partitioned Punjab with the help of British.
This was a biggest attack to destroy cultural identity of a highly civilised race by Muslim league led by Jinnah and Congress led by Nehru and Gandhi.
A partition line was drawn through the heart of Punjab on a piece of paper having map of India. Consequently punjab become victim of anarchism and blood shed. Partition of India was followed by massive voilence cold blooded massacres of innocent people of all punjabi communities.
Why they let while they the British the muslim league and Congress had all the powers to use military paramilitary and police forces during 1947_1948 so that they could restore law and order situation in the region. But there was a lack of will on the part of political leadership of the then India. Rather they were all hell bent to destroy the fabric of punjab and punjabi society.
Hindus and Sikhs were the most prosperous communities of Punjab. As refugees started coming to this part of India the clever congress leadership scattered them all over India so that punjabi hindu loose their cultural identity and do not form a political vocal group in any part of this region. In a similar fashion migrant muslim shifted to Pakistan and settled in Punjab and dissolved the cultural identity of Punjabi muslim. While muslim league started spilling venom in the minds of people against hindus and this process is on.
This story does not end here.
Do you know why we have a constitution which reserves government jobs to people of some ethnicities/casts. Do you know why we have wide spread nepotism in some od the north indian states. We find 99 percent of people sitting in various state government departments having similar faces ie similar genes.
But I was deeply disturbed by the undue favorism of authorities in different spheres of life. I understand that during mid sixties one of the north indian states especially targetted punjabi hindus and had even gone to the extent that the government cheated employees in disbursement of due salaries and pensions. The hate and jealousy against people of particular ethnicity can also be judged from the incidents that took place in post partitioned india especially in punjab delhi and haryana.
This venom of hate against the punjabi hindu was also systematically being spread in Pakistan since partition 1947. Younger pakistani generations were made to believe through text books that punjabi hindu is a kafir and very cruel especially against muslims.
Yesterday on of my friends who visited my house narrated an incident. He met a muslim elderly man recently in a trade fair at Pragati maidan.
He became friendly with the pakistani gentleman who belonged to Lahore. Lahore was ancestral place of my friend also.
The individual apprised my friend that while he was planning trip to India his family was thinking as if i am going to battle ground and may not return. Punjabi hindus may kill him. Several of his friends came to him and tried to convince him to drop the idea of visting India. But since his late father had last desire that he should get some soil from this part of Punjab he had come to india.
He said that since childhood he was taught in schoolsthat hindus are cruel people but his late father always differed.
When this gentleman landed at delhi airport he hired a taxi owned by punjabi hindu. He thought that the driver shall to try to exploit him. He became friendly with the driver and started speaking in punjabi. When the driver discovered that he belonged to Lahore he refused to take money ie taxi charges from him saying that the muslim gentleman belonged to his ancestral place.
Thereafter this gentleman went to karolbagh and met many punjabi hindus and surprisingly they were all friendly. He specifically mentioned about hospitality extended by the owner of Roshan kulfi Karol bagh whose ancestors also belonged to Lahore.
The only question that haunts my mind is
When all people of this region were highly civilised warm and friendly
Why did the political leadership of the then India carried a major assault on one of the highly cultured civilization of this region
