आचार्य चाणक्य आचार्य चाणक्य एक चतुर राजनीतिज्ञ, कुशल कूटनीतिज्ञ और प्रख्यात अर्थशास्त्री थे। उन्हें मौर्य साम्राज्य के संस्थापक के रूप में जाना जाता है। वह एक ज्ञानी संत थे और अर्थशास्त्र, राजनीति, युद्ध रणनीति, चिकित्सा और ज्योतिष जैसे कई विषयों पर उनकी गहरी पकड़ थी। उन्होंने अर्थशास्त्र नाम से एक पुस्तक लिखी थी, जिसमें राजनीति, अर्थशास्त्र, कृषि, सामाजिक नीति आदि शामिल हैं। चाणक्य मौर्य सम्राटों, बिंदुसार और चंद्रगुप्त के सलाहकार थे। उनके द्वारा लिखी गई चाणक्य नीति पुस्तक में जीवन, मित्रता, कर्तव्य, स्वभाव, पत्नी, बच्चे, धन, व्यवसाय आदि के बारे में महत्वपूर्ण जानकारी और उद्धरण हैं।
चणक का पुत्र होने के कारण इनका नाम चाणक्य पड़ा। इनका मूल नाम विष्णु गुप्त था और गोत्र वातस्यायन था। विष्णु गुप्त चाणक्य का जीवन परिचय “मुद्रा राक्षस नाटक से मिलता है। कहते है कि यह बहुत कुरूप थे। महापद्मानन्द के दरबार में इन्हे अपमानित होना पड़ा था। इनकी चोटी पकड़कर दरबारियों ने इन्हे बाहर निकाल दिया था। इन्हो ने प्रण किया कि जब तक वह महापद्मानन्द से अपने अपमान का बदला नहीं ले लेते अपनी चोटी नहीं बांधेगे इन्हो ने नन्द राजाओं के विरूद्ध चन्द्रगुप्त मौर्य को तैयार किया। चाणक्य प्रखर बुद्धि सम्पन्न थे। अपनी सूझबूझ से इसने नन्दवंशीय राजाओं को जड़ से उखाड़ दिया और चन्द्रगुप्त मौर्य को मगध तथा भारत का महान् सम्राट बना दिया। उसके राज्य का विस्तार मध्य एशिया तक हो गया था। अर्थशास्त्र चाणक्य का प्रमुख ग्रन्थ है। यह ग्रन्थ राजनीतिशास्त्र विषयक है। इसमें राज्य संपादन और संचालन के विषय में लिखा है। यह ग्रन्थ गद्यमय है। ग्रन्थ के अन्त में लिखा है, “नन्द राजाओं जैसे दुष्ट राजाओं के हाथों से पृथ्वी, शस्त्र और शास्त्रों को जिसने मुक्त किया। उसी आचार्य के द्वारा इस ग्रन्थ की रचना की गई है।
English Translation. Acharya Chanakya. Chanakya was a shrewd politician, skilled diplomat and an eminent economist. He is known as the founder of the Maurya Empire. He was a knowledgeable sage and had deep hold on several subjects like economics, politics, war strategy, medicine and astrology. He had written a book named Arthashastra, which covers politics, economics, agriculture, social policy etc. Chanakya was the advisor of Maurya emperors, Bindusara and Chandragupta. Chanakya Niti Book, written by him, contains important information and quotes about life, friendship, duty, nature, wife, children, money, business etc. Being the son of Chanak, he was named Chanakya. His original name was Vishnu Gupta and gotra was Vatsyayan. Life introduction of Vishnu Gupta, Chanakya is found in Mudra Rakshasa drama. It is said that he was very ugly. He was once, humiliated in the court of Mahapadmanand. He pledged that he will take revenge for his insult from Mahapadmananda, and will not tie his braid. He prepared Chandragupta Maurya against the Nanda kings. Chanakya was very intelligent. With his understanding, he was able to uproot the Nandvanshiya kings and made Chandragupta Maurya the great emperor of Magadha and Bharat. His kingdom had expanded to Central Asia. Arthashastra is the main book written by Chanakya. This book is about political sciences. This book is in the form of prose. Last paragraph, written at the end of the book,is:- “Written by the one who had freed the earth, from dangerous weapons and from the hands of the evil kings like Nanda kings. This book has been composed by the same Acharya.
