Rishi Kutsa

ऋषि कुत्स :
ऋषि कुत्स रूरू नामक राजऋषि के पुत्र तथा भृगु कुल के गोत्रकार ऋषि थे। अपने शत्रुओं के दमन के लिए उन्हें इन्द्र से सहायता मांगनी पड़ी। इन्द्र ने उनके शत्रुओं का वध कर दिया। श्री राम चन्द्र की राज सभा में भी एक कुत्स ऋषि थे।
कुत्स ऋषि का उल्लेख ऋग्वेद में, विभिन्न संदर्भों में किया गया है और अक्सर भगवान इंद्र के साथ जुड़ा हुआ है। कुछ ऋग्वैदिक ऋतुओं में, कुत्स का उल्लेख अर्जुन के पुत्र के रूप में भी किया गया है, यानी अर्जुन, या इंद्र-कुत्सा यानी इंद्र के समान दिखते हैं। ऋषि कुत्सा, जिन्हें सप्तऋषि भी माना जाता है, अपने कोमल व्यवहार और मधुर व्यवहार के लिए भी जाने जाते हैं। राजऋषि के पिता थे ऋषि कुत्सई। इंद्र ने एक बार अपने दुश्मनों को खत्म करके राजऋषि की मदद की थी, और उन्होंने जीत का जश्न मनाने के लिए कुत्स को इंद्रलोक में आमंत्रित किया था। एक बार कुत्सा एक गहरे कुएं में गिर गया और इंद्र उसे बचाने आया। ऋषि कुत्स ने अपने शत्रु शुष्ण का वध किया, भगवान इंद्र की मदद से। कुत्स’ को गायकों के एक प्रसिद्ध परिवार के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, जो भगवान इंद्र की स्तुति के गीत गाते हैं। कुत्सा को भगवान इंद्र के वज्र का पर्याय भी माना जाता है। कुत्स ऋषि अंगिरा के वंशज हैं, इसलिए उन्हें कभी-कभी अंगिरस कहा जाता है और यजुर्वेद और सामवेद में भी इसका उल्लेख किया गया है। ऋग्वेद में कई भजन पाए जाते हैं, जिनका श्रेय कुत्स अंगिरस को दिया जाता है। आठवें मंडल में एक और भजन दुर्मित्रा या कुत्स ऋषि के वंशज सुमित्रा कौत्स को जिम्मेदार ठहराया गया है। यजुर्वेद के रुद्रम में, 82 में से 65 सूक्तों का श्रेय कुत्स को दिया गया है। यह भी कहा जाता है कि कुत्स महर्षि ने आकाशीय पिंडों के प्रथम नियमों के रूपक की व्याख्या की। रघुवंश के एक अध्याय में, कालिदास ऋषि कुत्सा का आह्वान करते हैं; उन्हें रघुओं को आशीर्वाद देने के रूप में स्वीकार किया जाता है – वह राजवंश जिसके मुकुट रत्न, भगवान राम हैं।
ऋषि कौत्स :
कौत्स ऋषि विश्वामित्र या वरन्तु के शिष्य थे कुत्सा ऋषि के वंशज होने के कारण वे कौत्स कहलाए। इन्होंने अपने गुरु से गुरु दक्षिणा के लिए पूछा गुरु ने कहा, ‘मैं तुम्हारी सेवा से ही प्रसन्न हूँ। मुझे गुरु दक्षिणा नहीं चाहिए।” परन्तु बार-बार पूछने पर गुरु
प्रसन्न हो गए और उन्होंने चौदह करोड़ मुद्रा लाने को कहा। ऋषि कौत्स अयोध्या के राजा रघु के पास गए। रघु ने मिट्टी के बर्तन में पूजा का सामान रख कर ऋषि का अभिनन्दन किया। कौत्स राजा की दुर्दशा भांप गए। ऋषि को उदास देख सम्राट ने तपोवन के सभी प्राणियों का कुशल क्षेम और उनकी उदासी की कारण पूछा।
ऋषिने रघु से कहा, “हे चक्रवर्ती सम्राट, दसों दिशाओं को जीतने के पश्चात् आपने “विश्वजित” यज्ञ करके समस्त धन दान कर दिया है। गुरु दक्षिणा के लिए मुझे चौदह करोड़ मुद्रा की आवश्यकता है। आप से इतना धन मांगना अनुचित है। मैं किसी और राजा से धन प्राप्त करने का प्रयास करूंगा। सम्राट रघु ने कुबेर पर आक्रमण करके धन प्राप्त किया और ऊँटों, पर लाद कर ऋषि के आश्रम में भेज दिया। ऋषि कौत्स सम्राट रघु के दूर के सम्बंधी भी थे। सम्राट रघु के पूर्वज राजा भगीरथ की पुत्री हंसी का विवाह ऋषि कौत्स से हुआ था। भगीरथ सम्राट रघु से कई पीढ़ियों पहले हुआ है। अतः हंसी के पति ऋषि कौत्स इस कौत्स ऋषि के पूर्वज होंगे।
जैमिनी कौत्स कुल में उत्पन्न हुए थे। इनका प्रवर भृगु था। मय सभा में प्रवेश करने के पश्चात् युधिष्ठर ने समारोह किया था। उस समय यह युधिष्ठर के यज्ञ में ऋत्विज बनाए यह ऋषि व्यास की साम शाखा के शिष्य और जनमेजय के सर्प यज्ञ में भी उपस्थित थे। भीष्म पितामह को मिलने गए अन्य ऋषियों के साथ जैमिनी ऋषि भी गये थे।
ऋषि जैमिनी द्वारा “जैमिनी अश्वमेघ” महाभारत की तरह ही लिखा गया था। परन्तु इसमें पाण्डवों को अधिक महत्व नहीं दिया गया था। इसलिए व्यास ने अश्वमेध यज्ञ के सिवा शेष ग्रन्थ नष्ट करने की आज्ञा दी। जैमिनी ने यह ग्रन्थ नष्ट कर दिया।
जैमिनी के ग्रन्थ:
जैमिनी ब्राह्मण, जैमिनी उपनिषद, सामवेद के ब्राह्मण ग्रन्थ आज भी उपलब्ध हैं। इनके अन्य ग्रन्थ जैमिनी सूत्र, जैमिनी निघंटु, जैमिनी पुराण ज्येष्ठ महातम्य, जैमिनी भागवत, जैमिनी भारत, जैमिनी गृह्य सूत्र, जैमिनी सूत्र कारिका, जैमिनी स्तोत्र, जैमिनी स्मृति आदि है। ब्रह्माण्ड पुराण के प्रवर्तक ऋषियों की परम्परा में जैमिनी ऋषि का नाम उल्लेखनीय है।

English Translation
Rishi Kutsa was the son of Ruru named Rajrishi and gotrakar sage of Bhrigu clan. He had to seek help from Indra to suppress his enemies. Indra killed his enemies. There was also a Kutsa Rishi in the Raj Sabha of Shri Ram Chandra. The Kutsas were the disciples of sage Vishwamitra or Varantu, being the descendants of sage Kutsa, they were called Kauts. He asked his Guru for Guru Dakshina. The Guru said, ‘ I am happy with your service. I do not want Guru Dakshina. But on repeated questioning, the Guru became happy and asked to bring fourteen crores of mudras. Sage Kautsa went to King Raghu of Ayodhya. Raghu greeted the sage by placing the articles of worship in an earthen pot. Kauts understood the plight of the king. Seeing the sad sage, the emperor asked about the well-being of all the creatures of Tapovan and the reason for their sadness. The sage said to Raghu, “O Emperor Chakravarti, after conquering the ten directions, you have donated all the money by performing the “Vishwajit” sacrifice. I need fourteen crores of money for Guru Dakshina. It is unfair to ask so much money from you. I will try to get money from some other king. Emperor Raghu attacked Kubera and got the money and sent it on camels to the sage’s hermitage. Rishi Kautsa was also a distant relative of Emperor Raghu. Bhagirath’s daughter Hansi was married to Rishi Kautsa. Bhagirath existed many generations before Emperor Raghu. Hence Hansi’s husband Rishi Kautsa would be the ancestor of this Kautsa sage. Jaimini Kauts was born in this clan. His favorite was Rishi Bhrigu. Yudhishthira had performed a ceremony after entering the assembly. At that time, he made Ritvij in Yudhishthira’s Yajna, he was a disciple of Sage Vyasa’s Sam branch and was also present in Janamejaya’s snake sacrifice. Jaimini Rishi also went along with other sages who went to meet Bhishma Pitamah. “Gemini Ashvamedha” was written by sage Gemini in the same way as Mahabharata. But Pandavas were not given much importance in this. That’s why Vyas ordered to destroy the rest of the books, except Ashwamedha Yagya. Gemini destroyed this book. The Brahmin texts of Gemini Brahmin, Gemini Upanishad, Samveda are available even today. His other books are Gemini Sutra, Gemini Nighantu, Gemini Purana Jyestha Mahatamya, Gemini Bhagwat, Gemini Bharat, Gemini Grihya Sutra, Gemini Sutra Karika, Gemini Stotra, Gemini Smriti etc. The name of Rishi Gemini is notable in the tradition of sages who are the originators of Brahmanda Purana.
Kutsa Rishi, has been mentioned in Rig Veda, under various contexts and is often associated with Lord Indra.
In some of the Rigvedic hymns, Kutsa is also mentioned as son of Arjun, i.e Arjuneya, or Indra-Kutsa i.e look alike of Indra.
The Rishi kutsa, who is also considered as a saptarishis, is also known for his soft attitude and sweet behaviour.
Rajarishi was the father of Rishi Kutsai. Indra had once helped Rajarishi by eliminating his enemies, and he invited Kutsa to Indraloka to celebrate the victory. Once, Kutsa fell into a deep well, and Indra came for his rescue.
Rishi Kutsa killed his enemy Shushna,
with Lord Indra’s help. Kutsas’ are also known as a renowned family of singers, who sing songs praising Lord Indra. Kutsa is also considered as a synonym of Lord Indra’s vajra. Kutsa is a descendant of Rishi Angira, so Kutsas are sometimes called Angiras. This is also mentioned in the Yajurveda and Samaveda.

There are several hymns found in Rig Veda, which are attributed to Kutsa Angirasa. Another hymn in the eighth Mandala is attributed to Durmitra or Sumitra Kautsa, a descendant of Kutsa Rishi. In the Rudram of Yajurveda, 65 out of 82 suktams are attributed to Kutsa. It is also stated that Kutsa Maharishi explained the laws of celestial bodies. In a chapter on  Raghuvamsa, Kalidasa invokes Sage Kutsa. He has been acknowledged as having blessed the Raghus — the dynasty to which the crown jewel, Lord Rama belongs.
