#Triton is son of the sea God & his wife #Amphitrite, he dwelt in a golden palace in the bottom of the sea, or according to Homer, at #Aegae. Later writers
describe him as riding over the sea on #seahorses or other #monsters. Sometimes #Tritons are mentioned in
in the plural. They are conceived as having the human figure in the upper part of their bodies, and that of a #fish in the lower part. At the command of
#Poseidon the Tritons blew on a #trumpet made outof a shell (concha), to soothe the waves. Triton is only once represented on #IndoGreek
coins. On a type of #Hippostratus he is depicted holding #dolphin and #rudder.
“According to a Greek poet Hesiod, Triton dwelt with his parents in a golden palace in the depths of the sea. Sometimes he was not particularized but was one of many Tritons”
Poseidon, the father of Triton, was famous for his weapon, the trident, and Triton also carries similar one of the three-pronged spears.
Capabilities of Triton had gone beyond his father. He carried a gnarled conch shell that could quiet or enrage the #sea at his whim, when he played it as a #trumpet.
