महा राजस्य क णि छकस स [-] व [त्त ] रे 2 [ हे ] 2 दि 4
बोधिसत्त्वो ( त्वं ) प्र [ति]
ष्ठा पयति भीक्षुणी बुद्ध मित्रा त्रेपिटका भगवतो बुद्धस
English Translation
In the year 2 of Maharaja Kanishka, on the 8th day of the 2nd month of hemanta, budhist nun Buddhamitra a scholar of tripotaka sets up this Image of the Bodhisattva at the promenade of the (temple of) Lord Buddha.

महाराज कनिशष्क द्वितीय वर्ष की हेमंत ऋतु के द्वितीय मास के अष्टम दिन त्रिपिटक पण्डिता भीक्षुणी बुद्ध मित्रा भगवान बुद्ध के मंदिर की परिक्रमा में बोधिसत्त्व
की मूर्तिी स्थापित करती है।

2. Sircar: 3. But the top most stroke does not seem to be a part of the numeral, since the spacing between it and the lower stroke is not regular, Kanishka’s regnal reckoning राज्य संवत्सर
began in 78 A.D. It continued to be used by his successors. Western Saka Kshatrapas continued to use it regularly. Hence it came to be known as the Saka era.. See D.C. Sircar, Sel.Inss. p.136.
