Komarti Plates of Achandavarman
Komarti Plates of Achanda-varman of Kalinga. – Regnal Year 6.
Maharaja Achandavarman is well known from this grant and bobbili grant. Consequent to his death during the year 460 CE, he was succeeded by prabhanjanavarman son of Saktivarman.
The Varman kings claim their descent from the Yadava dynasty ruling over Simhapura, which has been identified with modern Singapuram in Kalinga (northern Orissa) between Chicacole and Narasannapeta.
Varmans had also ruled in Bengal towards the end of the 11th century
Kalinga, the coastal region between the Mahanadi and the Godavari rivers, is known for its historical importance.
The region comprise large parts of Odisha and northerneastern part of Andhra Pradesh. It had also included parts of present-day Chhattisgarh, extending up to Amarkantak in the west. Kalinga empire was founded by King Vali. There’s mention.of Kalinga empire in Mahabharata also. The early capitals of this empire were at Dantapura and Rajapura.

English Translation of the inscription.
L1. Om ! Hail !
From the victorious city of simhapura.
L1.1-3. The lord of Kalinga Sri Maharaja Achanda-varman,
who is a devout worshipper of the gods (and) is devoted to the feet of the lord, his father, commands all the
ryots assembled or collectively.in the village, Kohetura.
L1.3-7: This village has been given by us for the increase of our own religious merit, life and fame having
converted it into an agrahara, to last as long as the
sun the moon and the stars and having endowed (it)
with exemption from all taxes to the
Brahmana Devasarman who is of bhardwaja gotra (and) a student of the vajasneya sakha of the Yajurveda.
L1-8-12. Knowing this you should, according to the rules prevalent from previous times attend upon him and pay to him measurable commodities and gold ( i.e in cash and kind) and (the king) requests the future kings. “Having obtained possession of th, the earth
by lawful right of inheritance of conquest and ruling it (you) should preserve this initiated endowment, i.e. the agrahara, Paying heed to the true
religion.
L1-13-19. And also in this context, quote & verses sung by Vyasa:-
