गालव ऋषि भी कई हुए हैं। प्रथम गालव वह था, जिसकी माता ने अकाल से पीड़ित बच्चों के भोजन का प्रबन्ध करने के लिए इसे बाजार में बेचने का प्रयास किया। बच्चे के गले में रस्सी डाली गई थी, जिससे इसका नाम गालव पड़ा। बड़ा होने पर यह महान गोत्रकार ऋषि बना। दूसरा ऋषि गालव कौण्डन्य ऋषि का शिष्य था। कुण्हन के वंशज कौण्डन्य है। यदि यह गालव कौण्डन्य ऋषि का शिष्य है तो यह विश्वामित्र का वंशज नहीं हो सकता क्योंकि कुण्डन और कौडन्य वसिष्ठ ऋषि के वंशज है। विश्वामित्र और वसिष्ठ की कई पीढ़ियों तक शत्रुता रही है। अतः यह गालब विश्वामित्र कुल का में न होकर किसी अन्य कुल का होगा अंगिरा कुल में भी एक गालव ऋषि हुआ है। सम्भवतः यह वही होगा। एक अन्य गालब विश्वामित्र का शिष्य हुआ है। इस गालब ने गुरू की उत्कृष्ट सेवा की गुरु प्रसन्न हुए। गालब के आग्रह करने पर विश्वामित्र ने उससे आठ सी श्याम वर्ण अश्व गुरू दक्षिणा में मांगे। गालब बहुत डर गये। उसने भगवान् विष्णु की पूजा की। अन्त में ऋषि का मनोरथ सफल हुआ। उन्होंने गुरू दक्षिणा गुरु को प्रदान की। इस ऋषि गालव का आश्रम जयपुर से तीन मील दूर है।
इस प्राचीन आश्रम में पहुंचकर एक अलग तरह की आध्यात्मिकता का अनुभव होता है। सतयुग काल में यहां गालव ऋषि ने यहां तपस्या की थी। वे यहां गंगा की धारा लाए। आज भी यहां किसी अज्ञात स्रोत से लगातार पानी बहता रहता है। इस तीर्थ में दो अलग-अलग कुंड हैं एक महिलाओं के स्नान के लिए और दूसरा पुरुषों के लिए। इस दिव्य स्थान में स्नान करने से कई तीर्थयात्री लाभान्वित होते हैं। मान्यता है कि कार्तिक मास की पूर्णिमा के दिन ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और महेश यहां आते हैं। जो तीर्थयात्री इस काल में इस कुंड में स्नान करते हैं, उन्हें व्यापक लाभ मिलता है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि इस दिन यहां स्नान करने का लाभ करोड़ों गुना बढ़ जाता है। इस स्थान को गालव आश्रम और गलता गद्दी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, क्योंकि यह वैष्णव रामानंदी सम्प्रदाय की सर्वोच्च सीट है। ये गालव ऋषि की वो तपोभूमि है, जहां सदियों से अखंड जलती ज्योत अपनी ज्योती से इस धाम को पवित्र कर रही है गालव ऋषि पहले हरिद्वार में रोज गंगा जी में नहाया करते थे. लेकिन, जैसे-जैसे गालव ऋषि की उम्र बढ़ी, तो उनका गंगा में नहाने का नियम ना टूट जाए इसी डर से उन्होंने गंगा जी से उनके स्थान पर ही कोई बंदोबस्त करने का आग्रह किया. इस पर चमत्कारिक तौर पर यहां गलता कुंड में एक धारा बहने लगी. यह धारा पहाड़ों में कहीं से आती है लेकिन, किसी को नहीं पता कि कहां से आती है. ऐसा माना जाता है कि गंगा जी ने गुप्त रुप से यहां अपना आशीर्वाद दे रखा है. आधुनिक मंदिर का निर्माण महाराजा सवाई जय सिंह के दीवान राव कृपा राम ने करवाया था। इस परिसर में और भी कई मंदिर हैं। यहां एक रामगोपाल मंदिर भी है, जिसमें भगवान राम और भगवान कृष्ण दोनों की मूर्तियां स्थापित हैं। दुनिया को धर्म की राह दिखाने वाले तुलसीदास को मानवता का असली ज्ञान भी यहीं हुआ था । ऋषि की रहस्यमयी गुफा यह रहस्यमयी बातें यही नहीं खत्म होती, धाम में पयोहारी ऋषि एक गुफा में रहते हैं, जो धूनी के ठीक सामने है. कहा जाता है कि ये गुफा पाताल तक जाती है । और इसके अंदर जो भी गया, वो कभी वापस नहीं लौटा है, इसलिए ही इस गुफा को बंद कर दिया गया है। गोस्वामी तुलसीदास जी यहां तीन वर्ष तक रहे और प्रसिद्ध धार्मिक ग्रंथ ‘रामचरित मानस’ की रचना की। English Translation. There had been several Galav Rishis. The first Galav was the one, whose mother tried to sell him in market to arrange food for the children suffering from famine. A rope was put around the child’s neck. That’s why he was named Galav. When he grew up, he became a great gotrakar sage. The second Galav sage, was a disciple of Kaundanya sage. The descendants of Kunhan are Kaundanyas. If this Galav was a disciple of Rishi Kaudnya , then he can not be a descendant of Vishwamitra. Because Kundan and Kaudnyas are descendants of Rishi Vasistha. Vishwamitra and Vasishtha had enmity for many generations. Therefore, this Galav can not belong to the Vishwamitra clan, but to some other clan. There is also a Galav Rishi in the Angira clan. He may probably be the same. Another Galav had become a disciple of Vishwamitra. The Guru was pleased by this Galav’s excellent services. On the request of Galav, Vishwamitra had asked him for eight black characters as Ashva Guru Dakshina. Galab was very scared. He worshiped Lord Vishnu. At last his wish was successful. He offered Guru Dakshina to the Guru. The ashram of this sage Galav, is three miles away from Jaipur. A different kind of spiritual feelings are felt at this ancient ashram. During Satyuga period, Sage Galav stayed here and carried out extensive tapasya. He brought a stream of Ganges here. Even today, water flows here continuously from some unknown source. At this pilgrimage, there are two different pools. One for bathing of women and another for men. Several pilgrims get benefitted, by bathing at this divine place. It is believed that Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh come here on the full moon day of the month of Kartik. Those pilgrims, who take bath in this pool, during this period, get extensively benefitted. It is understood that on this day, the benefit of bathing here, increases millions of times. This place is also known as Galav Ashram and Galta Gaddi, as it is the highest seat of the Vaishnava Ramanandi Sampradaya. This is the land of penance of Rishi Galav, where the eternally burning flame is purifying this abode with its light. Earlier, Rishi Galav used to bathe in Ganga ji everyday in Haridwar. But, as the age of Galav Rishi increased, fearing that his rule of bathing in the Ganges might not be broken, he urged Ganga ji to make some arrangement in his place. Miraculously, a stream started flowing here in Galta Kund. This stream comes from somewhere, from the mountains, but no one knows exact place. It is believed that Ganga ji has secretly given him blessings. The modern temple was built by Rao Kripa Ram, Diwan of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. There are many other temples in this complex. There is also a Ramgopal temple, in which idols of both Lord Rama and Lord Krishna are established. Tulsidas, who showed the world, true path of religion, got real knowledge of humanity here. The mysterious things do not end here. Sage Payohari lived in the cave in Dham, which is right in front of Dhuni. It is said that this cave goes till Patal and whoever had gone inside it, never came back, that is why this cave has been closed, now a days. Goswami Tulsidas ji stayed here for three years and composed the famous religious scripture ‘Ramcharit Manas’
