A society which is moderate in following religious beliefs and spirituality, shall always make a happy society. The basis of an ideal society, is the guidelines given in the religious belief of it’s members. Unrighteous, suicidal & a society which comprise jealous activists & jihadists can never ever be happy. There had been an unbreakable relationship between religion and society in sanatan culture. All Hindu social norms are governed by the religious scriptures. The binding force of Hindu society is humanity & human love . Our religious scriptures teach non-violence, courtesy, sacrifice & universal brotherhood. According to the religious guidelines, spiritual strength is considered superior to physical strength, In ancient times the political power was in the hands of the kings, while the moral leadership was in the hands of saints and gurus. As a result, the state power could not ignore the moral values. The trees & plants like Peepal, Banana, Tulsi etc. are being worshiped in our traditions and religious practices, because most of these plants are used in ayurvedic treatment. Sanatna culture also teaches the followers to be compassionate towards animals, birds, insects etc. Feeding insects and birds with grains, feeding wheat flour to animals, regularly or during various festivities, is an example of this. Our forefathers lived a simple life in the lap of nature, as it gave them joy. Their body and mind were fully engaged in the work of creativity. They kept doing research on various subjects. It is known from the dialogue between Bhardwaj and Bhrigu given in puranic literature that these sages had proved that there is consciousness in the vegetation. Due to climate, trees flourish and bear fruit. Due to thunder, lightning, and heat, fruit and flowers wither, dry up, and become sick, they become healthy again with treatment. Creation of festivals for celebrations, is also a speciality of Hindu culture. Vaisakhi, Sharad Purnima, Dussehra, Diwali, Makar Sankranti etc. festivals have their own significance due to some being associated with the season, some with the time of harvesting and some with the names of great personalities. Rather every occassion, of human life from childhood to death, involves celebrations & festivities.
There is another important feature of Indian culture, which is unity in diversity. There has been a lack of narrow sectarianism, in Indian mystics. Sanatna Dharma literature always spread the message of unity to the whole world and preached ‘universal brotherhood’. Hindu culture teaches followers, to live for others.
May all be happy, may all be disease-free, may everyone’s life be auspicious and may no one be a part of sorrow. O God give us such a boon!
“As per hindu culture:-
The one who believes in the existence of God, in religion is a sage. And the one who does not believe in the existence of God is also a sage. In Hindu belief, every person has the freedom to express his thoughts. There are alien beliefs, which direct followers to hang or kill non believers, if they don’t follow their religious belief.
There is no such thing in the Hindu culture that if the ideas do not match, then a person should be hanged or killer. Our society had also considered Kapil as a sage, while he had always doubted the existence of God. But so-called civilized people had given capital punishments to Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Galileo etc because they were non believers. The main attribute of our culture is considered to be the spirit of tolerance. But we hindu society, had bitter experiences of this sentiment of tolerance, in the past. In fact, hindu leadership failed to understand the sanatna dharma religious scriptures completely as It is also written in our scriptures that too much of tolerance gives rise to cowardice. Therefore it is also necessary to punish the wicked. Recent Gandhians cowardice, since 1947, is the latest example There is another example, given in our ancient literature, When parshuram was fed up with Kartavirya’s misdeeds and wanted to punish him but his father Jamadagni Rishi objected to it and did not agree with him. Then Parshuram ji told his father, “The wicked must be punished. Otherwise ‘terrible consequences’ may emerge. – And his statement of Parshuram Ji, became true. During the absence of Parshuram ji, Kartavirya destroyed the hermitage of sage Jamadagni.
It is true that due to excessive tolerance, the hindu community had been suffering. Some people are hell-bent on erasing our religion, our culture, leaving no stone unturned to make fun of our ways of worshipping, our gods and goddesses. In Bollywood movies, dramas etc, the followers of Hindu religion are shown as hypocrites, swindlers etc. but followers of other religions are considered as pious, honest & kind people. Most of the hindu keep silently watching this insult being spread by followers of alien beliefs, deliberately. Secular hindus who support such vulgarity must note that can such people tolerate similar criticism especially related to their belief & their messenger of God. Just try to criticise them & watch the consequences. Secular must note that only hindu belief teach followers to tolerate such filthy criticism. In Hindu culture, cow is considered as mother, it is our worshipable. It is our ultimate duty to protect her and her progeny. Cow’s milk and ghee are not only useful for humans, but cow urine has toxic power, and acts like antibiotics.
In case of a snake bite, a patient becomes healthy by just feeding cow urine. Cow dung had also been very useful for mankind, especially for keeping mosquitoes & insects away from hindu homes. Maithili Sharan Gupta, had once expressed the pain of mother cow, in following words:- “I gave you milk like your mother, to drink, and you killed me, like a butcher”
Before 1947 partition, so many cows were not being slaughtered, in India, as now being slaughtered in Hindu part of partitioned india, as blood of hindus used to start boiling as soon as they heard the news of cow slaughter. Hindu-Sikh youths used to be ready to sacrifice their lives for the protection of cows. Such was the effect of the movement launched by Namdhari Sikhs, that no one dared slaughtering cows.
Pre birth karma idealogy has also influenced Hindu psychic. Hindus believe in the principle of karma. Karmas are of three types – Kriyamana, Sanchita and Prarabdha. As per this belief, the deeds done in the present birth, are “Tivr or Sanchita Karma” & they keep getting accumulated in the invisible body i.e soul. The slow karmas called Prarabdha karmas, get fructified after a passage of time and lead to one’s destiny. Prarabdha karmas become fruit-oriented over a period of time. The theory of rebirth and transmigration is believed to be based on this theory of Karma and destiny. It has special importance in Indian culture. The concrete, deep and comprehensive system of imparting good culture & sanskar, in Hindu society, by Indian sages had been a unique experiment in the world. The role of a Hindu family is important in making a community out of the family, increasing harmony in the society. Mutual affection, trust etc. are the virtues enhanced in a person, who grows up in a family. This develops the mindset of thinking about the overall interest of a family as well as the society, we live in.
