ऋषि पैल.
पैल ऋषि कई हुए हैं। एक भृगुकुल में और दूसरे अंगिरा कुल में ये ऋषि व्यास के प्रमुख ऋषियों में एक थे। व्यास ने इन्हें वेदों और महाभारत का अध्ययन तथा ब्रह्माण्ड पुराण सिखाया। युधिष्ठर के राजसूय यज्ञ में यह धौम्य ऋषि के साथ “होता” बने थे। शरशय्या पर पड़े भीष्म को मिलने ये भी गए थे एक पैल गर्ग ऋषि के पुत्र और एक अन्य वसु ऋषि के पुत्र थे।
सतयुग और त्रेतायुग के दौरान, प्राचीन भारत में केवल एक वेद, जिसमे कुछ भजन थे, जिन्हें “वेद-सूत्र” कहा जाता था।
वेद में यज्ञ विधि प्रक्रिया का पूरा विवरण निहित है। वेद में कई छंद थे। द्वापरयुग तक इस वेद का पालन होता रहा। महर्षि कृष्णद्वैपायन ने वेदों को चार भागों में विभाजित किया। इस कारण महर्षि कृष्णद्वैपायन को “वेदव्यास” यानी वेदों के व्यास के रूप में जाना जाने लगा। पैल, वैशम्पायन, जैमिनी और सुमन्तु महर्षि व्यास के चार शिष्य थे। महर्षि व्यास ने पैल को ऋग्वेद, वैशम्यपन को यजुर्वेद, जैमिनी को सामवेद और सुमन्तु को अथर्ववेद की शिक्षा दी।

There have been many Pail Rishis in ancient India. One in Bhrigukul and the other in Angira clan, this sage was one of the main sages of Vyasa. Vyas taught him the study of the Vedas and the Mahabharata and the Brahmanda Purana. In Yudhishthira’s Rajasuya Yajna, he became “Hota” along with Dhaumya Rishi. They also went to meet Bhishma lying on the bed.
Another Rishi Pail was the son of Garga Rishi and another was the son of Vasu Rishi.
During Satyug and Tretayug, there was only one Veda, few hymns, called “Veda-Sutras” in ancient India.
The Veda contained complete details of the Yagya Vidhi process. There were many philanthropic verses.
This veda was followed till Dwaparayuga.
Maharishi Krishna-dwaipayan divided the Vedas into four parts. For this reason Maharishi Krishnadvaipayan came to be known as “Vedvyas”i.e Vyas of the Vedas.
Pail, Vaishampayan, Jaimini and Sumantu were the four disciples of Maharishi Vyas. Maharishi Vyas taught Rigveda to Pail, Yajurveda to Vaishmyapan, Samaveda to Jaimini and Atharvaveda to Sumantu.
