Dharasena II ascended to the throne in the 7th century CE during a time when the Maitrakas were a prominent ruling dynasty in the region. Like his predecessors, continued to be a patron of art, culture, and literature. During his rule, the Maitraka dynasty continued to support artistic endeavors, fostering the growth of cultural richness in the region. He maintained a close association with Jainism, and he is known for his support of Jain religious activities. The Maitraka rulers, including Dharasena II, played a significant role in the growth and spread of Jainism in the region.
